V-Type Fabric Reinforced Oil Seal
Fabric Reinforcement Seal Design for Demanding Industrial Environments
- Overview
- Related Products
V-type fabric reinforced oil seals are stacked, flexible sealing components designed to handle severe service conditions in heavy industrial environments. Each ring is manufactured with a rubber body reinforced by woven fabric, combining elasticity with mechanical strength. The seals are typically installed in stacks, where axial compression generates radial sealing pressure against the shaft.
1. Functional Characteristics
· Segmented Construction: Each ring operates independently, allowing compensation for wear and shaft misalignment
· Fabric Reinforcement: Enhances strength, pressure resistance, and dimensional stability
· Multi-Lip Contact: Enables a layered sealing effect that adapts to fluctuations in pressure or media
· Split-Type Design (Optional): Allows installation without dismantling adjacent components
2. Material Options
· Nitrile Rubber with Cotton or Aramid Fabric: Standard for oil resistance and durability
· FKM-Reinforced Versions: Available for elevated temperature and chemical exposure
· Elastomer Combinations: Tailored for grease, water, or aggressive media sealing
3. Application Areas
· Hydraulic presses and cylinders
· Rotary and reciprocating shafts in heavy equipment
· Rolling mills, mining equipment, and marine propulsion systems
· Gear housings under shock load or vibration
4. Advantages
· Adapts to shaft eccentricity and minor surface imperfections
· Withstands intermittent pressure and high axial load
· Suitable for slow-speed dynamic or static sealing functions
· Can be paired with gland rings and support retainers for optimal performance
V-type fabric reinforced seals are generally supplied as sets, with intermediate V-rings and end support rings. Selection depends on pressure level, shaft size, and required sealing performance.
